Team Trans Sport Racing Elects to Test – new tires coming for Detroit.

August 16, 2007 Boston, MA - Team Trans Sport Racing (“TSR”) will be spending the time during round-nine of the American Le Mans Series in a testing session. From team co-owner Jonathan Lieberman,
“The Mosport track is notoriously rough and many of the drivers complain about the safety there. In fact, its an issue that’s been raised constantly with the series, so were not at all sad about missing the race. We’ve got the first completely new tire developed for our car flying in from Japan for the Detroit race which is only a week after Mosport. It just seemed to make sense to focus on Round Ten. As you know, Yokohama and TSR have been working hard to develop a new construction and compound tire for Detroit. This totally new tire, which is re-engineered based on race data from the past few races, is hopefully a step in the right direction. We’ve made some strides, but in many ways we’re kind of at a crossroads. Our resources need to be directed carefully -- so it became a mutual decision to take a breath and do some testing and really attack the last three events. Back in Japan, Yokohama’s been working around the clock and we’re all excited to see what kid of progress we can make at Belle Isle. To be consistently the third of fourth Porsche this early in the development cycle is a proud accomplishment, but we still have a long way to go to be a podium contender. We’re in the big push now and we’re going to do everything we can to be ready.”
The Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is August 30 – September 1. Team Trans Sport will be there. Live coverage will begin on September 1st at 3:00 PM EDT on SPEED Channel.
